15 year old Alfie Horan hit a second 50 of the Sunday league season as Brook bounced back from last week’s defeat at Upminster to record a fine win over Buckhurst Hill. Horan’s 53, with support from Shane Barwick (38) and Danny Gillham Jnr (40) saw the hosts into a strong position, which Billy Parnell reinforced with some good late runs, as he smashed 46, the innings closing on 220-7 from 40 overs.
The Buckhurst Hill reply started well, but when the wickets of Reynolds and Ironside fell in quick succession to leave Hill 98-4, much of the visitors firepower had gone and despite fine knocks from Pelham (38) and Platt (49), Goresbrook were always in charge of the run chase, despite an uncharacteristic drop from Danny Gillham Snr, as the visitors fell 11 runs short.
Goresbrook remain top of the league in the early going, after two wins out of three, with most sides yet to have played more than one game.
