With the searing heat again an issue, Mark Bird won the all-important toss and unsurprisingly elected to bat first at M & B Sports Ground on Sunday. Bonnickle and Redway enjoyed early success with the ball for Saints but centurions Shaun Ross and Afzal Hussain put the visiting attack to the sword in a superb display with the willow. Ross struck 16 fours and 2 maximums on his way to exactly 100, whilst Hussain found the rope 16 times in an undefeated 101 – the pair pushing ‘Brook’s total beyond the reach of the tiring visitors. After the interval Useful knocks from Lovell (32) and Gilbert (26) were the highlight of Saint’s reply with Ben Atkins the pick of the home bowlers bagging 3 for 44 as the Dagenham outfit ran out comfortable winners by 159 runs.
Goresbrook 299 for 8 from 40 Overs beat Anson St George 140 All Out in 30.2 Overs by 159 runs
