Goresbrook produced an excellent bowling and fielding performance to defend 129 in their opening T20 game of the 2016 season at Buckhurst Hill. Brook were in trouble early on as Barwick, Maund and skipper Calverley all holed out inside the first four overs, however Kane Messenger (33) and Billy Chapman (25) lead a recovery that Jordan Harris (29) carried on in the later overs. Another flurry of wickets reduced Goresbrook to 88-7, but some sensible batting from Harris in tandem with Craig Ivey (20) took the visitors up to 129, which was at least something to defend.

The total looked like it might not be enough as Solomonides (30) and Maskell (32) added 50 for the 2nd wicket after the early dismissal of Ironside, however once Craig Ivey completed an excellent personal performance by dismissing both set batsmen on his way to 3-20 from his 4 overs, the remaining Buckhurst Hill batting crumbled as spinners Billy Smith and Shane Barwick also picked up 3 wickets hauls, Hill subsiding for 89.

Goresbrook visit Rainham in the Quarter Finals of the competition which has been won by SNEL side Southend on Sea for the past two seasons.
