3 out of 3 for U9's

Goresbrook U9's continued their winning start to the season with a convincing 56 run win at Belhus on Friday evening.
While the big boys of Belhus and Orsett and Thurrock all put on their pyjamas and went to bed early the youngsters plied their trade with style.
Grace Wood won the toss and chose to bat on a bright if hazy evening.
First pair Bobby Veares 2* and Archie Dias 4 put on 17 but 2 wickets were lost against low bouncing balls.
Next pair Liam Elsom 14* and Riley Biggs 3 added 30 for the loss of a further 2 wickets.
Albert Sleight 7 and Bella Boland 3* struggled to get bat on ball against some less than accurate bowling but it was the last two pairs who amassed 62 runs without loss to help set a daunting target of 301-5. First Ollie Frederick's 4*and Liam Elsom 16* added 27 with a fine display of tip and run as well as some powerful drives from Elsom whose 2 visits to the crease for 9 man Brook brought him 4 boundaries and 30 undefeated runs.
Next up were skipper Grace Wood 15* and Ben Atkins 7* who closed out the innings with a partnership of 35.

Belhus' reply soon ran into trouble as their opening pair lost 4 wickets in their 4 overs to run outs for Albert and Liam and wickets for Archie and Liam. The next pair struggled against Grace Wood and Albert Sleight and Grace closed out her spell with a wicket maiden.
Ollie Frederick's continued his recent improvement with a 3 over spell that yielded just 7 runs. Riley Biggs accounted for Belhus skipper Charlotte Waters whose 12 runs could have been a lot more but for some good fielding by Goresbrook. Bobby Veares got a wicket with his second ball but credit must go to Belhus number 9 Lewis who scored 18*
The younger members of the team struggled a bit with their line but overall a strong performance with the ball backed up a confident batting display.
