Early lapses cost dear.

Goresbrook and Upminster served up a tightly contested game in the gloom at M&B on Wednesday evening.
Batting first Upminster were gifted early runs by some lackadaisical fielding before a recovery put the skids on the visitors charge.
There were wickets for Arayman Parida, Phil Thoufick, Grace Wood, Charlotte Waters, Liam Elsom and Sriraman. There were also catches for Arayman and Albie Smith and a run out by Archie, all of which helped keep the Upminster total within reach, after two middle order retirees looked to be taking the Minster men to a mammoth total. Upminster scored 141-6 from 20 overs
Brook got their reply off to a steady start with Arayman Parida continuing where he left off against Rainham with a hard hit 15 but otherwise it was only Phil Thoufick who kept the momentum going with 26*. Brook kept the score ticking over but struggling to hit the ropes meant a real assault on the target was never really on the cards.
The game finished nigh on nine o'clock with Brook 24 runs shy of victory. A creditable performance but one with lessons to be learnt.
