Goresbrooks Colts clinched an exciting four wicket victory on the Monday of the Barking Cricket Week. With both teams fielding mixed aged sides there was a great amount of local talent from the borough on view demonstrating the superb work undertaken by both Clubs. Murthy (55) and Haif (31) gave Barking the ideal fillip but Frankie Boland (3 for 18) and Lee Jones (2 for 11) produced excellent spells with the ball to turn the tide. George Smith had a memorable day bagging 3 for 8 which included a sensational hat-trick as the hosts were bowled out for 174.
After tea ‘Brook took up the run chase and were boosted by impressive knocks from Alfie Boland (32) and Lee Jones (20) to set up a drama drenched finale. Just when the home attack looked to be in the ascendancy Daniel Parnell played a captain’s innings and steered his side home with a mature knock of 26 to secure a the spoils for the visitors.
