Upminster 142 for 7 beat Goresbrook 141 for 3 by 3 wickets

Goresbrook’s 100% record was shattered in a massive shock at Upminster Park on Sunday morning. It started well with 'Brook winning the toss and electing to bat in the hot conditions. After losing Stuart Greaves for 0, runs flowed constantly with skipper Shane Barwick in good form he struck 44 including five boundaries in his 33 balls at the crease before he fell to a catch in the deep. He was supported admirably by Joel Oliver who hit a 20-ball 23 and then an undefeated partnership of 56 between Liam Addison who ended 22 not out and Ben Irving who was 27 not out as' Brook amassed a very decent 141 for 3 in their 20 overs.

In reply, 'Brook produced their worst fielding display of the season as dropped catches, misfields and overthrows were occurring constantly throughout the home sides' innings. Ben Irving and Liam Addison both took two wickets and Billy Smith also bagged a victim but O’Heazel (52) and O’Dowd (48) were in superb form taking Upminster to within 3 runs of victory with 1 over to go. Bobby Gaymer who was the pick of the visiting attack without taking a wicket managed to take it to the 5th ball before the homesters scrambled through a single to shock the league leaders and win by 3 wickets. Brook have a chance to get back on a winning thread when they travel to Ilford on Tuesday for the semi-final of the Cox & Kings Cup at Valentines Park, start time 3.30pm
