Newham 111 for 6 lost to Goresbrook 112 for 4 by 6 wickets

Goresbrook hosted Newham for the first time ever in a colts match and the game produced a really entertaining spectacle. Newham won the toss and elected to bat continuing Brook’s terrible toss record. The visitors started off positively as regular opener Bobby Gaymer struggled to get into rhythm, but 13 year old Harry Jackson came on first change and produced 3 superb over’s without conceding a run, which slowed down the scoring rate. Ben Irving bowled four good overs taking 1 for 11 and he was backed up by Billy Smith who took 1 for 16 in his 4 over. Ryan Paul took 1 for 20 on his colts debut, and there were 3 run outs with Gaymer redeeming himself for his poor spell with the ball as he produced 2 quality throws and Harry Jackson the other contributor, as Newham made a respectable 111 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs.

In reply, in-form Ausman Ginai opened with skipper Shane Barwick as ' Brook set about the total required. Ginai fell for 13 going for a big shot with the score on 26, this brought Ben Irving in to join Barwick and the two eased the score up to 72 before Irving fell for 19. Harry Jackson looked bright but got a real rip-snorter of a ball which took his wicket for 7. Barwick was called off to retire when he had made 39 not out, it was another fine knock from the left hander including one 6 and five 4's, it also made him the highest run scorer in Goresbrook’s colts history. Ryan Paul fell shortly after for 4 and this brought a close finish as' Brook were taken into the last over of the 20, however Jack Sleight (10 not out), was backed up well by Aaron Scott and they saw the home side through to a deserved victory with 6 wickets in hand.
