In a first 4th XI game in 7 years Goresbrook hosted Gidea Park and Romford 6thXI at Robert Clack school.
Brook's XI comprised of 7 colts aged 16 or younger with 5 making their senior debuts and several of those giving performances to remember.
Rudrav Patel scored a brisk 31 with Dilpreet Singh scoring a run a ball 10 but with the score on 75-2 Zaid Butt and Bhavy Prajapati came to the crease and put on an astonishing 191 run partnership. Butt's innings was far from chanceless but he smote 26 fours and two maximums in an innings displaying both brutal power and finesse as he amassed 148 runs from 94 deliveries. Bhavy, however, was far from overshadowed and he accumulated quickly, more so after Butt was run out, to score 80 not out from 60 balls. Hammad Ahmed kept the fielders on their toes with a quick fire 21 as he helped the final score to 328 -4 from 35 overs.
Credit must be given to Ade Mollison's young charges as they retained their enthusiasm throughout the innings.
Park's reply started well enough with a flurry of boundaries on the fast outfield but 3 wickets in 7 balls from Hammad put Brook further into the ascendancy and a brace for Dilpreet and wickets for Dharm, AP, John Nichols and Chamara (catches by Hammad, Bhavy and AP) plus a Rudhrav run out skittled the visitors for 89 in 22 .1 overs.
This was certainly a game to remember for these young players.
