Andrew Livett and Darren Johnson put on a unbeaten 3rd wicket partnership of 179 to help Brook amass 193-2 from their allotted 40 over on a turgid pitch against Fives and Heronians at the Old Chigwellians ground on Saturday.
Brook were 14-2 after the early departures of George Sleight and Alfie Boland, but Johnson and Livett settled in on a low bouncing pitch.
Fives attack consisted of a mix of youth and experience but lacked the penetration to trouble the experienced pair.
Johnson batted throughout the innings for his 68*, which unusually contained just 3 boundaries, with his 50 com,ing in 98 balls, but it was the evergreen Marvel, hitting his second unbeaten century of the season, that dominated the home attack reaching his 50 in 65 balls and his 100 in 100 balls with 10 boundaries in the last over of the innings.
FIves struggled to score against Owen Elsom and Richie Williams but it was Brook's Essex u13 rep, Phil Thoufick. who removed both openers with his left arm spin.
Further wickets were taken by Frankie Boland, Ricci Parnell, George Sleight and Keith Maund with a bonus run out by the Marve,l to help restrict the home team to 113-9 from their 40 overs for a comfortable 80 run win.
Brook return to the Annex next week for an encounter with Ilford 4's.
