Hutton no match for Brook.

Brooks 3rd string produced a solid display at the picturesque Mountnesing ground on Saturday agaianst Hutton 5ths

Joe Barwick won the toss and Andy Livett and Darren Johnson got the innings off to a healthy start with a partnership of 117 with Jonno to the fore with a hard hit 71 featuring 10 fours and 1 maximum. The next 3 batsmen, Jo WIlkinson 10, Andre Thoufick 20 and Owen Elsom 10, all played supporting roles to the effervescent Marvel who kept accumulating , as is his modus operandi, to reach 89 not out at the close.
He was supported in the last few overs by a debutant with possibly the longest name that Dean Barwick has ever had to squeeze into a Goresbrook scorebook: Srividyanadan Ramachandrakurukkal.
Sri, to his friends and father to Sriraman and Vajran of our u13's team, added a 14* in his first game of cricket for many years to help Brook close on 232-4.
After a good tea, Brook took to the field and despite 10 coming from his first over Andre Thoufick soon got his man with a fine yorker.
Owen Elsom got rid of the dangerous John Southgate for 34 thanks to a stunning sprint and dive by Keeper Jonno.
Phil Thoufick struck next when despite being given not out by the umpire Essex girls u17 representative Georgie Manek sportingly walked having nicked behind to Jonno.
The turning point of the innings came however when immediately after reaching his 50 Chris De Bellaique was run out by a direct Dave Leadbeater throw from mid wicket.
Thereafter a brace for Joe Barwick and a caught and bowled for Lee Granger really stunted the run rate and Phil Thoufick turned the screw with a late two wicket salvo, one bowled and one caught high above his head by Dapper Dan O' Sullivan.
However despite using 8 bowlers Brook were unable to nab the last wicket but nevertheless powered to a fine 91 run win to maintain their position at the top of the division.
