Goresbrook had to battle hard to put up a competitive score against Walthamstow 5ths at Robert Clack school.
With a strong wind blowing straight down the pitch making life difficult for batters and bowlers and a sluggish outfield, runs were hard to come by, nevertheless Andy Livett and Hayan Ansari applied themselves and were rewarded with a half century apiece. However with little further input from the rest of the batsmen Brook could only muster 161-7 from their 40 overs.
Walthamstow's Essex over 70s rep Nigel Bloch belied his years with some quick singles but despite a brace from Owen Elsom and Bobby Granger dismissing Bloch via a sharp catch by Marv at slip Walthamstow always had the upper hand and got home with 5 wickets and 20 balls to spare.
