Goresbrook’s second string battled hard, but were undone by a top order collapse after being inserted on a wet M&B pitch. They were reduced to 44-5 by some handy Fives bowling before keeper Darren Robinson struck a fine rearguard 54, which together with a bit of tail wagging, saw Brook cobble together 129.
The Fives reply wasn’t all plain sailing, indeed with Fives at 86-6 after fine new ball spells from skipper Daryl Forward and Billy Parnell and then some excellent middle overs fare from Craig Ivey (2-26) and Shivs Subramanian (2-30), the game was very much in the balance. However James McKay, who had earlier taken 2-13, kept his head with a fine 35* to see his side home.
