Visiting skipper, Rohit Sharma won the toss and put hosts Bentley into bat at Pilgrims Hatch on Saturday.
Ross Marder (69) and Ollie Garden 32 had Sharma rueing his decision when compiling 85 for the first wicket. Left arm seamer Manish Battan (4 for 38) was the pick of the visiting attack whilst spinners Pawanpreet Singh and Sharma bagged a brace of scalps apiece as ‘Brook turned their fortunes around with an excellent performance in the field. Ryan Barker added 34 for the hosts but their score of 217 proved under par on a good track.
After the tea interval, openers Lee Jones and Shaun Ross made inroads into their target with a compelling opening stand of 107. Jones’ excellent shot selection yielded 13 fours and a maximum in a splendid 73 whilst Ross marked his return with an entertaining 39. Adam Kirkpatrick’s four wicket salvo lifted Bentley’s spirits but their hopes were soon dashed when Abdullah Ahmed strode to the crease. Ahmed despatched 7 fours and 4 maximums in a swashbuckling unbeaten 58. Battan provided a late cameo with a hard hitting 36 to ensure a four wicket victory and 20 points for the Dagenham side.
