Honours were even in this local derby between Barking and Goresbrook Seconds at Mayesbrook Park on Saturday.

The visiting attack toiled in the heat as Gul Zaman Shahzad (51), Kam Sohal (50) and Ruhul Bhuyan (53) all made half centuries. The introduction of Amir Javed (4 for 34) and Hussain Chowdhury (3 for 64) gave ‘Brook a glimmer of hope but the home sides attacking approach saw them to a mammoth 277.

After the tea interval, a disciplined fielding display from Barking saw runs at a premium and captain Rohit Sharma (32) and Abdullah Ahmed (38) caught the eye before both holed out to Kashif Moghul. Manish Battan (22 not) provided a late cameo before the game petered out to a draw.
