Brook’s second string were put to the sword in the field at North Stifford Common on Saturday. Openers Wayne Read (30) and Alex Blake (27) started well to lay the foundations for an all out attack from Jack Plane. Coming in at four, Plane proceeded to dispatch the ball to all corners of the ground lashing 22 fours and 5 maximums in a mammoth unbeaten 151 from only 120 balls. The visiting attack toiled for scant reward with Richard Williams and Karamat Ali bagging a brace of scalps apiece and Manish Battan picking up the other wicket to fall as Belhus declared on a daunting 275 for 5.
After the tea interval, the visitors were given the ideal fillip as Williams (39) Siraj Zafar (30) and Rohit Sharma (25) laid the foundation for the Dagenham side’s reply. Kaushik Yelari struck 5 fours and 3 sixes in a sparkling half century to propel the middle order. Teenager Liam Elsom caught the eye with an excellent 27 but Goresbrook were ultimately dismissed when only nine deliveries short of securing a draw as Belhus secured a maximum 25 points for their afternoon’s exertions.
Belhus 2nd 275 for 5 declared from 45 Overs (25 points) Beat Goresbrook 2nd 224 all out from 47.5 Overs (6 points) by 51 runs
