‘Brook’s second string suffered a 147 run drubbing at the hands of Frenford at The Old PLA Sports Ground on Saturday. The visitors received the ideal fillip when Karamat Ali bagged the scalp of Jamal Ahmed for a duck but they were forced to toil in the field as the hosts ran up an imposing total of 307. Abil Nawaz (94), Qasim Nawaz (55) and Atif Malik (50) all excelled with the willow whilst Juber Rukon was the pick of the visiting attack with 3 for 37. Abdullah Ahmed bagged a brace of victims but the target would prove too tall an order for the Dagenham side.
After the tea interval, Rukon (20) and George Godfrey (15) threatened to get going but both succumbed to deliveries from Zubair (3 for 39). Karamat Ali struck 8 fours and a six in an swashbuckling 55 whilst teenager Jack Gibson impressed when finding the rope five teams in an eye catching 32 but the visitors slumped to 160 all out and defeat by 147 runs.
Frenford 2nd 307 for 7 from 45 Overs (20 points) beat Goresbrook 2nd 160 all out from 30 Overs (5 points) by 147 runs
