Goresbrook’s second string slipped to a 6 wicket reverse at Stanford-le-Hope on Saturday despite an excellent opening partnership of 64 between Asghar Ali (43) and Juber Rukon (30). Chris Hammond (4 for 25) and Martyn Hathaway (3 for 38) decimated ‘Brook’s middle order despite a battling 30 from Lovelin Mostra as the visitors slumped to 171 all out.
After tea, two early wickets form Karamat Ali gave the Dagenham outfit hope of success but Scutt (50) and Edwards (46) put the hosts in the ascendancy. De Jong (39 not) and Rake (20 not) eased the hosts over the winning line to a comfortable 6 wicket success.
