Harlow pace attack routs 1s

Shane Barwick’s men suffered an afternoon to forget at the M&B Club as they were routed for 93 by Harlow and went down to a 9 wicket defeat. Excellent as the visiting attack was, and they were collectively (Stanford's overseas has plenty of wheels individually) both the most accurate and hostile attack we've faced this season, the 1s contributed to their own downfall with two run outs in quick succession helping a slump from 46-2 to 50-6 with Kurt Whisker also being forced to retire hurt in that period after he took a nasty blow to the elbow from Harlow paceman Jason McNally.

Visiting keeper Andre Riddell took four catches, as the Goresbrook batsmen’s footwork wasn’t up to scratch on a hard & true surface, all four Harlow seamers bowling good line and lengths with intelligent use of the short ball, backed up by a strong fielding effort. Only Kane Messenger, who was last man out for 27, managed to pass 20 as the hosts were dismissed in the 34th over.

In reply, Harlow breezed past their target, with McNally, who came through the Colts section at Upminster before emigrating to Australia, finishing proceedings in a hail of boundaries as Harlow passed their target in the 13th over, Barwick’s dismissal of opener Hassan being the only wicket to fall.
