Ted to the Four as Ones Win at Harlow

Goresbrook’s 1st Eleven maintained their position at the summit of Division 3 with an impressive six wicket victory in this top of the table clash at Marigolds n Saturday. Visiting Captain Kane Messenger won the toss and put Harlow in and his decision was vindicated when he and Ted Ivory claimed the scalps of openers Farooq and Whitworth with only 9 on the board. James Mitchell (47) and Zabihullah Hakimi (35) led the hosts’ recovery combining in a partnership of 56 but the introduction of seamer Daryl forward produced two quick wickets to put ‘Brook in the ascendancy. Left arm spinner Shane Barwick’s economical 10 over spell yielded 2 for 23 and the return of 19 year old Ivory signalled the end of Max Baulcombe’s brave knock of 35 – Ivory going on to return 4 for 37 as the men from North West Essex were restricted to 196 for 9 from their 50 over entitlement.
After tea, the visitors were reeling on 18 for 3 with top order batsmen Juber Rukon , Shaun Ross and Jordan Calverley, back in the hutch. ‘Keeper Danny Gillham (jnr) and Shane Barwick then continued their rich vein of form with the willow accumulating 122 for the fourth wicket. Barwick thrashed 8 fours and 3 maximums in a run a ball 65 before becoming the third of Alex Seniors scalps. Gillham fashioned 6 fours and a towering six in a measured, unbeaten 73. Jordan Harris joined Gillham and his entertaining 31 not out ensured there were no further scares for the Dagenham outfit as they cruised over the line with something in hand.
Goresbrook now have visits to Newham and Stanford-le-Hope to overcome in their quest for the Division 3 title.
