Goresbrook’s 1st Eleven continued their impressive form proving too strong for Woodford Green on Saturday. The visitors powerful bowling line-up had the hosts in trouble from the off as skipper Kane Messenger’s hostile spell of 3 for 26 wrought havoc amongst Green’s early order. Opening partner, Ted Ivory (1 for 30), kept the pressure on with the ball with Messenger also claiming a sharp run-out in the early exchanges. The introduction of Shane Barwick (3 for 9) and Muhammad Attuallah (1 for 1) hastened the host’s demise as they were whittled out for a paltry 67 in only 18.1 overs.
After the interval, the visitors came out all guns blazing as quick-fire innings from Shaun Ross (21) and Lee Jones (14) signalled their desire for an early finish. Jordan Calverley was unruffled in adding an unbeaten 10 whilst Shane Barwick (18 not) completed the home side’s misery despatching 3 sixes in five deliveries to complete an 8 wicket drubbing.
Woodford Green 1st 67 all out in 18.1 overs (0 pts) lost to Goresbrook 1st 73 for 2 in 10.1 overs by 8 wickets
