Success for Skippy's kids at Bentley tournament.

Goresbrook u9s took part in an invitational 6 a side tournament at Bentley's Coxtie Green Road ground on Sunday.
In a group of four teams Brook found themselves pitted against the hosts, Chelmsford Willows and Brentwood.
Opening proceedings against Bentley, Brook took early charge as under Terriers rules, they amassed 276-0 from their six overs with Charlie Trowell and Liam Elsom top scoring with 24 and 22 with a smattering of fours and sixes between them.
Brooks playing squad of six contained some seasoned campaigners and two rookies, with Charlie Collins making his competitive debut.

Albert Sleight got Brooks defence off to a fine start with an early wicket and Lily Nunes continued her rapid improvement with another before Harry Ivory nabbed two in 3 balls to restrict Bentley to 211-4 for a 65 run victory.

Game 2 saw the all girl team of Chelmsford Willows face the fury of Brooks batsmen as Charlie Trowell hit 23*, Charlie Collins 12 with two sixes, Albert Sleight with 22* and Liam Elsom with 35 helped brook amass 298-2.
The Willows started slowly against some accurate bowling and wickets for Liam Elsom and Albert Sleight helped restrict the final score to 218-2 for an 80 run victory.

Watching the other games, particularly the hitherto prolific final pair of Brooks ultimate opponents Brentwood, skipper Liam Elsom and coach Skippy Barwick hatched a plan of attack designed to minimise the damage these two could cause. But first a solid batting display against by far the most accurate bowling attack faced on the day, Albert Sleight top scored with 22*.Good running in the final over tipped the final score up to 259-2.
Brentwood needed a run a ball to win the game but Charlie Collins bowled magnificently to concede just 2 runs. Lily Nunes grabbed her second wicket of the day and Liam Elsom likewise to leave Brentwood well behind the required rate at the half way stage.
Harry Ivory turned the screw further conceding just 3 runs and although the expected fireworks did arrive in the form of Brentwood's final pair a second ball wicket for Charlie Trowell put the result beyond doubt. Brentwood limped to 225-3 leaving Brook winners by 34 runs and 3 wins out of 3.
Overall the kids batted with exuberance, hitting 21 sixes; bowled with accuracy, giving up a mere handful of extras across the 18 overs bowled and the fielding was exemplary with 3 catches taken.
Thanks must go to all the parents and family who came along to support but especially to Joe Skippy Barwick who brought the best out of his young charges.

Tournament aggregates:
Albert Sleight 53 and 2 wickets
Lily Nunes 18 and 2 wickets
Charlie Trowell 47 and 1 wicket
Charlie Collins 16 and 1 catch
Liam Elsom 60 and 2 caught and bowled's
Harry Ivory 13 and 2 wickets
