Goresbrook U9's 239-7 lost to Hornchurch U9's 261-5 by 22 runs (Terriers rules)

Goresbrook's youngest troops struggled with the accuracy of the visiting Hornchurch attack on Thursday evening at a blustery May and Baker ground.
Brook's bowling attack found the windy conditions very difficult to bowl in and gave up a total of 38 wides. Wickets for Archie Dias and Ted Ivory and a brace for Bobby Dancer plus a run out were the plus points for the youngsters.
The homesters reply was always lagging behind the rate as regular wickets were lost. Nevertheless 4 batsmen remained unbeaten: Archie Dias (0*) Albie Smith (4*), Liam Elsom (2*) and Daniel Goosetree (4*); but only Ted Ivory made a telling contribution with 14 runs including 2 boundaries as Brook ended up 22 runs short at the end of their allotted 20 overs.
Training before the next game will focus on bowling a better line so as to minimise the contribution of wides to the oppositions total. A measure of the success of this will be in a much closer game next time round with the hope of a return to winning ways for Gorebrook U9's.
