......but finish 2nd on runs scored.

Goresbrook took a side to compete in the Belhus Charity 8 a side tournament on Sunday.
The format of the tournament was 3 matches per team with aggregate runs deciding the winner.
Brook came up first against Belhus Spitfires, (a nod to Organiser Richie Waters county affiliation), and kept the hosts down to a meagre 205 thanks to a superb bowling and fielding performance. Run outs by Ben Atkins and Charlie Collins, a further wicket for Ben, and wickets from Vajran and Charlie courtesy of catches by Liam Elsom and Archie Dias put Goresbrook firmly in the driving seat.
Double figure contributions from Liam, Grace Wood, Sriraman and Vajran took Brook to a healthy 261, but the loss of two late wickets brought that down to 251, for a 46 run victory.
Brook's second game was against the Stanford Sharks. Fielding first Brook made an early breakthrough with a brace of Archie Dias wickets thanks to identical catches at short cover by Liam Elsom. Run outs by Callum Hind and Archie helped further stifle the Sharks charge with the final score 227-4.
Brook lost early wickets in their chase but strong hitting from Grace Wood got the score up to 29 before an unnecessary run out rook the gloss of the situation. Two further wickets left Brook requiring 11 from the final two overs . Vajran and Archie scored 8 from the first over and then 2 singles took the scores level, however 3 dot balls meant at least 1 was required from the final ball and a no ball, a misfield and an overthrow took the score to 231 for a 4 run victory.
Brooks final game was against the Belhus Eagles, a predominantly female team.Brook batted far more circumspectly than in the previous game and accumulated rather than accelerated, losing just 1 wicket in scoring 54 from their 8 overs.
The Eagles made steady progress until Liam effected a run out off his own bowling. Grace enticed a lofted drive taken by Vajran at extra cover then Callum nabbed a brace of caught and bowled's to leave the Eagles needing an improbable 28 from the final over. Scoring only 6,
Goresbrook ran out winners by 22 runs.
It was disappointing to discover that Brook were pipped to the trophy by the Sharks by a mere ten runs but pleasing that the squad performed well across all three matches in all facets of the game and had to dig deep to win against the Sharks.
Next up for the Under 11's is a final Havering league game on BH Monday morning at M&B.
