Goresbrook lost 6 wickets in the first ten overs of their innings against Upminster B at Coopers School on Sunday.
Run scoring was difficult (with an outfield lusher than the entire 2nd teams locks) and early boundaries for Liam Elsom 6* and Tommy Smith 6* was all Brook had to show for the opening 16 overs. But Freddie Atkins 17* decided to play his own game and hammered 3 boundaries, including a huge six over mid-wicket, to take Brook up to a Terriers adjusted total of 247-6
Early wickets from Archie Dias and Charlie Trowell kept Upminster behind the rate, then Tommy and Albie Smith and Liam Elsom got in on the action. A flurry of run outs put Brook well on top but the plaudits must go to Charlie Collins who nabbed not only a brace of wickets but also a catch and a run out to help Brook to a 27 run victory.
