Under gloomy skies Goresbrook u11's travelled to Spring Farm Park in Rainham for this Havering League game.
Winning the toss, skipper Phil Thoufick chose to bat first on a pitch still a touch damp from Tuesdays downpours.
Playing under Terriers rules the Sleight brothers Stanley 6 and Albert 3* opened proceedings and found the going tough against the low bouncing ball but managed to add 20 runs for the loss of 1 wicket.
Albie Smith 6* and Harry Ivory 0*added a further 16 without loss.
Bhavia and Archie Dias were both undefeated adding 10 more and 12 were added by Grace Wood and Ben Atkins for the loss of two wickets.
Last pair Phil Thoufick 6* and Liam Elsom 11* showed their intent from the off and ran well between the wickets as well as moving their feet to the pitch of the ball, adding 29 and getting the final net score up to an impressive 272-3.
All of Goresbrook's bowlers performed well and there were wickets for Harry Ivory and Ben Atkins and a run out from Phil Thoufick. Albie Smith took two wickets including a caught and bowled but Liam Elsom really impressed taking 3 wickets for 7 runs including 2 caught and bowled's.
A generally good fielding performance helped keep Rainham's score down to 225-8.
