U11's play a blinder in top of the table derby.

Goresbrook U11's made the short trip to Cromer Road for their Havering league game against Hornchurch on Sunday morning.
The overcast conditions and a fresh westerly breeze made it seem more like October than August but the boys injected some ferocious bowling into the game following a circumspect, but thoroughly required, batting performance.
Invited to bat, Alfie Atkins 2* and George Sleight 10* took advantage of some nervous keeping to keep the scoreboard ticking over before George unleashed a blistering attack in the pairs final over, knocking 13, including a brace of boundaries, to end on an impressive 26-0.
The next pair of Krishan Kumar and Nathan Dowridge 1* looked impressive as well with Kumar continuing his recent form with 3 boundaries in his knock of 12. This pair added 18-1.
Ted Ivory 4* and Pawan Singh 2* found it hard to get the ball away but ran sensibly adding an undefeated 8 in their pairing.
Stanley Sleight 8* and Matthew Elsom 5* added an undefeated 16 with both boys scoring boundaries through square leg.
Brook's last pair was the Smith brothers, Tommy 3 and Albie 1*, and both lads batted with maturity, scurrying singles to add a final 9 runs to the total for the loss of just the one wicket.
Goresbrook scored 267-2 from their 20 overs.
Most neutral observers would have felt that this score was more than gettable but 12 balls later the same observers would have had their convictions sorely tested as firstly a direct hit from cover by Matthew Elsom got Brook an early breakthrough and then a triple wicket maiden from George Sleight put the skids under the home teams reply, with Sleight bowling 2 of his victims and Ted Ivory safely snaffling the other at cover. Hornchurch's openers then made a good fist at a recovery getting the score up to 25 but the loss of those 4 wickets was to prove crucial. Krishan Kumar conceded only one run in his 2 overs and whipped the bails off from an accurate Nathan Dowridge throw to grab another wicket. Then a two wicket salvo from Matthew Elsom, the first another catch by Ted Ivory, the second bowled took the game further away from Hornchurch.
Run outs by Nathan Dowridge and Alfie Atkins and a fourth wicket for George Sleight saw Brook close the game out victors by an impressive 29 run margin.
Hornchurch 238-10
Pawan Singh 0-8

Krishan Kumar 0-1
Stanley Sleight 0-10
Matthew Elsom 2-10
Nathan Dowridge 0-4
