Goresbrook U11 280-3 beat Gidea Park & Romford U11 227-10 by 53 runs (Terriers rules)

Goresbrook U11's pulled off a remarkable victory with just seven players in Sundays Havering League match at the May and Baker ground.
Skipper Alfie Atkins won the toss and chose to bat first on a pitch still damp from Saturday mornings downpours.
First pair George Sleight 11* and Krishan Kumar 16* both capitalised on some loose bowling to smash their way to an unbeaten 35 run partnership from their 5 overs with a boundary a piece. The next pairing of Stanley Sleight 3* and Matthew Elsom 4 were much more circumspect in their approach and put on 15 for the loss of one wicket, Elsom striking a lofted clip for four.
Nathan Dowridge 8* and Tyler Fredericks 7* both hit boundaries in their unbeaten partnership of 21 but it was left to last man Alfie Atkins to play a mature captains innings of 21 including 16 from the final over to take Brook to an imposing total of 280-3 from their 20 overs.

The youngsters made light of the gaps in the field and well marshalled by skipper Atkins, and with some remarkably tight bowling, effected a total of seven run outs, two to direct hits from George Sleight and Nathan Dowridge and the others to assists from Tyler Fredericks, George Sleight and three from Krishan Kumar (one from quick thinking following a dropped catch)all throwing in to Atkins who whipped off the bails. A double wicket maiden from Krishan Kumar 2-4 and a wicket for George Sleight 1-10 completed the rout, which might have been worse for the visitors but for lapses that added 29 wides to the total.
A comfortable victory built on team work and encouragement by this magnificent seven shows the potential of this squad when it is at full strength.
