West Essex beaten as knockout place all but guaranteed

Goresbrook Under 15 side maintained their 100% record in the Cox and Kings Group stage with a crushing victory over West Essex. Having lost the toss the home side were asked to bat. Adi Kumar carried on with his fine form to retire on 30 while Alfie Boland added a further 21.

Skipper Billy Parnell scored a quickfire 30 that included a straight six as the home side amassed 130-4 in 20 overs.

West Essex never threatened the target and paceman Tahmid Khondakar took the first wicket in the 3rd over as Gillham took a good catch behind the stumps. George Smith returned 1-17 with another exhibition of line and length bowling before Bobby Granger increased his season haul to 15 wickets by spinning out 3 for just 7 runs.

Nirbhey Bist saw and end to West Essex with a clinical 2-5 late on the away side were dismissed for just 44.

With a quarter final place all but finalised, the under 15s travel to Valentine's Park, Ilford, next Sunday morning as they look to top the group with a 100% record.
