Goresbrook's Under 15 side continued their good start to the season with a 102 victory over Newham in the Cox and Kings Trophy.
Electing to bat Goresbrook opened with Alfie Boland, fresh from a terrific 75 for the 4th XI the previous day and Danny Gillham. The pair put on 45 before Boland was retired on 31no. Adi Kumar also retired with a quickfire 30 off just 19 balls. Gillham reached his 30 to also retire whilst Alfie Atkins hit an unbeaten 17 as the hosts effectively had a first wicket partnership of 142. Captain Billy Parnell scored a quick 17 before being harshly adjudged run out as Brook racked up 147 for 2 in 20 overs.
In response Newham lost regular wickets. Tahmid Khondakar took 2-10 from his four overs including a wonderful caught and bowled effort. His fielding was also excellent as he ran out two Newham batsman. Itihas Adama bowled with good amounts of swing as he returned 1-6 and left arm spinner Bobby Granger continued his fine form with another good spell that returned him 3-9 from four overs as the East Ham based side were hustled out for 45.
Goresbrook have won three from three so far in the trophy and next take on West Essex in this competition but first travel to perennial title rivals Upminster next weekend for a Havering league encounter.
