Upminster 70 for 8 lost to Goresbrook 76 for 4 by 6 wickets. Goresbrook become league champions!

'Brook skipper Shane Barwick lost yet another toss and the homesters decided to make use of the good light and decent looking pitch and bat first. Goresbrook's bowling attack has been as good as any attack in the county all season and they did no disappoint again. Bobby Gaymer and Liam Addison bowled superbly with the new ball showing real zest and rhythm. They bowled in tandem for 6 overs and the score got to just 15. Billy Smith came on and bowled beautifully, his 4 overs of off spin had Upminster in all sorts of trouble as he took 3 for 4, his spell including 2 maidens. Ausman Ginai came on to bowl his medium pace and he also bowled impressively, taking 2 for 18 in his 4 overs but had 2 dropped catches and could easily have had 4 a wicket haul. Shane Barwick was the other bowler and he completed a superb all-round display for the attack taking 2 for 14 in his 4 overs. There were superb catches from Barwick, Aaron Scott, Callum Shepherd and Liam Addison and a top run out by Jack Stead as Upminster ended on a low looking 70 for 8 in their allotted overs. Gaymer ended with 0 for 14 and Liam Addison ended on 0 for 12 which leaves him agonisingly on 99 wickets for the clubs colt section.

In reply Shane Barwick and Bobby Gaymer opened and set off in decent style getting the total to 21 off 5 overs before Gaymer played on for 9. Ben Irving fell for just 1 and then Barwick fell for 19, giving him exactly 500 runs for the season, a top effort. This gave Upminster hope as the score went to 38 for 3, but Joel Oliver was in fine nick as he smashed a quick-fire 24 not out including 2 big sixes. Liam Addison backed him up but fell for 7 with the scores level. This brought Stuart Greaves to the crease, he had finished the final on Sunday with a massive six which nearly gave 'Brook a famous win and after 2 dot balls he unleashed a fantastic shot as he hit the ball out of the ground to win the league for his side in superb style.

Goresbrook coach Jordan Harris added; "This sums up our season tonight; superb bowling, fielding, and batting, totally outclassing a very strong side. A league title and the club's first ever appearance in a Cox & Kings Cup Final in the same week. 16 wins from 19 games overall is top quality, we really should have a great chance of doing well next season in the big one; the Matchplay".
