Goresbrook 164 for 0 beat M&B 50 for 4 on faster run rate (Rain affected)

Goresbrook won the toss and elected to bat under blue skies on a flat wicket in this friendly on Sunday morning. Shane Barwick and Ausman Ginai opened up in spectacular style smashing 85 off the first 10 overs before both retired, Barwick hitting 50 runs off of just 34 balls, his knock included seven 4's. Ginai backed up well scoring 22. After that Ben Irving and Joel Oliver came together and the run spree continued. Irving hit 32 including six boundaries and Oliver scored 28 including five 4's before they both also retired. The two Jack’s, Stead and Sleight, saw the innings through scoring 4 not out and 8 not out respectively as 'Brook ended on 164 from their allotted 20 overs, without losing a wicket.

In reply, the visitors valiantly attempted to start off with victory in mind but were stopped in their tracks by a superb one handed catch in the deep by Irving off the bowling of Bobby Gaymer, and then Irving produced a superb throw directly hitting the stumps running out Samir for a duck. Ryan Paul took 2 for 20 including a smart stumping by Barwick, Gaymer took 1 for 14 from his 4 overs and Billy Smith had figures of 0 for 15 from 4 overs before thunder and lightning hit the ground washing out the game with 8 overs to spare, giving 'Brook victory on the basis of a faster run rate.
