Brentwood 102 for 7 beat Goresbrook 75 all out by 27 runs

Due to the visitors late arrival the game started 45 mins late and the light wasn’t great so the toss was always going to be vital. Brentwood duly won it and decided to bat first. 'Brook's new ball bowlers Bobby Gaymer and Liam Addison bowled superbly, with Gaymer taking an early wicket and then when Callum Shepherd took a wicket with his first ball back after a two year break from playing, matters were looking good as Brentwood were struggling at 37 for 2 at the halfway stage. Emanuel and Bell then fought back getting after spinners Smith and Shepherd and the rate picked up before skipper Shane Barwick came into the attack. The left arm spinner bowled a superb 4 over spell taking 5 for 14 halting the run rate. Barwick also passed 150 wickets for the colts section, the first player to do so in the clubs history. There were some sharp catches also with Aaron Scott taking two, Gaymer, Ginai, Oliver and Barwick all taking one each and a sharp stumping from Ben Irving. Bobby Gaymer with fine figures of 1 for 8 from 4 over’s including 2 maidens was the other stand out bowler but Addison was very unlucky not to take a wicket in his spell of 0 for 21, as the visitors ended on 102 for 7 in their allotted over’s.

In reply 'Brook were in early trouble losing Barwick for just 1 and then Irving followed shortly after for just 6. Gaymer (12), Addison (12) and Joel Oliver (18) all fought hard to give the home side a winning chance but wickets kept falling at the wrong times. Of the last six batsmen, Ginai was the top scorer with just 6 as 'Brook were eventually bowled out for 75 with 5 balls left of their 20 losing by 27 runs.
