Goresbrook’s 4th string gained ample revenge over an in-form St. John’s Billericay side – one of only two teams to beat the Dagenham outfit this season. After winning the toss and batting the visitors were soon under the cosh as Joe Barwick (4 for 20) made early inroads in an excellent 9 over spell. Fellow new ball bowler, Ricci Parnell, supported with 2 for 26 as Saints slumped to 47 for 7. The tail were given no respite as 13 year old Krishan Kumar bagged a brace of victims at a cost of 6 from five economical overs whilst Andrew Pauling chipped in with a scalp. Under 13’s keeper Ted Ivory capped a superb display with the gloves pouching 3 catches behind as St John’s Billericay closed on 78 all out.
After tea ‘Brook were given the ideal fillip as experienced campaigner Dave Leadbeater impressed with the willow compiling 27. Skipper Martin Rooke struck an entertaining unbeaten 21 and with Daren Boland (22 not) saw the hosts home - Boland clubbing a huge six to clinch victory by 8 wickets. This win leaves Goresbrook in second place in the table with promotion now within their reach.
