Rain frustrates Rooke

Goresbrook’s 4’s were rained off with a tight finish looking likely against Galleywood 3’s. The hosts were 95-5 chasing 130 to win, after a good bowling performance featuring 2-17 from Joe Barwick and 2-18 from Andrew Pauling restricted Galleywood to 129-7 from their 40 overs. The Goresbrook reply was very much built around opener Steve Rooke who was unbeaten on 42 and he would have been confident of knocking off the 35 runs required, however the visitors would have hoped that had they dismissed him, the Goresbrook lower order may have struggled to get over the line. It was therefore a real shame when the rains arrived.
