Goresbrook’s Sunday Eleven added to a memorable weekend for the Club’s Senior Section completing a nap hand of victories with a 30 run success over Orsett & Thurrock at May & Bakers Sports Ground. Home Captain Pawanpreet Singh won the toss and elected to bat and his decision was vindicated as Jordan Harris continued his good form with the willow, finding the rope 10 times on his way to a polished 62. Support in the middle order came in the shape of Siraj Zafar (25), Shane Barwick (36) and Kane Messenger (36 not) boosting ‘Brook to a satisfactory total of 234 from their allotted 40 overs.

After tea the visitors set about their target with a mixture of flair coupled with some rash strokes. Lewis Lockyear held his nerve fashioning 8 boundaries in a superb century to provide the platform for Orsett’s challenge. The Dagenham outfit gained the upper hand and found wickets with alarming regularity for the visitors. Danny Gillham (jnr) was the pick of the home attack returning 4 for 41 whilst Shane Barwick caught the eye bagging 3 for 25. Messenger claimed a brace of scalps whilst skipper Singh picked up the other wicket to fall as Goresbrook ran out victors by 30 runs.
