18 year old Ted Ivory, skippering Goresbrook’s Sunday League Team for the first time, saw his side claim an exciting 28 run victory at Harold Park on Sunday. Early knocks of 18 from Kane Messenger, 13 courtesy of the captain and a quickfire 34 from Shane Barwick countered some excellent early bowling from ‘Wood’s attack. ‘Brook’s middle and late order struggled to continue the momentum as they slumped to 113 all out.
After tea, Siraj Zafar and Shane Barwick, with 3 wickets each plus a brace from Lee Jones, steered the visitors into the ascendancy. An entertaining undefeated 42 from Erantha Muthuk gave the hosts hope of victory but Goresbrook closed out their visitors reply for 85 securing victory and 18 points.
Goresbrook 113 all out in 25 overs (18 pts) beat Harold Wood 85 all out in 25 overs (5 pts) by 28 runs.
