Impressive performance from the u13's

Goresbrook won their opening Havering League fixture against Rainham at a gloomy Spring Farm Park on Friday evening.
After being asked to bat first Brook took the attack to the home bowlers with Albie Smith hitting 4 fours in his 16. A middle order collapse brought Freddie Atkins to the crease and he cudgelled his way to retirement with 25. Then debutant Arayman Parida smacked a 13 ball 26* with a full array of impressive strokes. A late flurry by the Sri brothers took the Brook total to 131 all out. The sole disappointment for coach Paul Atkins, was his charges failure to bat out their full allotment of overs.
Brooks bowlers kept a much tighter line than in the previous game against Belhus and kept the pressure on the home batters throughout the innings. Phil Thouficks box of tricks grabbed 3 wickets in 4 balls, Liam Elsom grabbed 2 in 2 balls and late wickets for Freddie Atkins (2-5) and Vajran Sri (1-5) kept Rainham down to 81-8 from their allotted 20 overs.
Next up for the u13's is another away game at Ardleigh Green on Wednesday evening.
