Goresbrook u13's visited Spring Farm Park in Rainham on Wednesday evening for this Havering League game.
Featuring four u11 players, two of whom were making their debuts, the whole team gave a much improved performance from their previous game against Barking but came up against well drilled opponents who were on top throughout the game.
Brothers Vajran and Sriranam Sri opened the bowling for Brook and bowled accurately but found Rainham's openers intent upon attack. Indeed, the opening pair race to 65 in 8 overs before Harry Ivory grabbed a wicket. Thereafter there were economical spells from Archie Dias and Liam Elsom but only a solitary run out from Stanley Sleight to show for their efforts. However, the fielding showed a marked improvement from the previous game and a sensible defensive field kept the total to 120-2
Stanley Sleight lead Brook's reply with 23 but run scoring proved to be very difficult against an accurate attack, with Rainham's spinners strangling the chase in the middle overs.
Nevertheless Brook finished on an admirable 80-6 form their 20 overs and the return of two senior players should bode well for the next game at home to GP&R on Sunday morning.
