Fielding lets U13's down

Goresbrook u13's lost this tight friendly encounter against Barking on Sunday morning.
Winning the toss and batting first the day got off to the worst possible start when skipper Stanley Sleight was castled first ball of the innings.
Tommy Smith and Saad Ali lead a strong recovery and both boys retired with 25 but a flurry of wickets lead to a slowdown in the run rate and Brook finished on 94-5 from their allotted 20 overs.
Barking's reply was soon under pressure as Liam Elsom grabbed a wicket thanks to Tommy Smith clinging on to a strong drive at mid-wicket, however Barking kept up with the run rate as much through their own endeavour as through some very sloppy fielding from Brook, who seemed to have forgotten the efficacy of a long barrier.
Wickets for Tommy Smith and Saad Ali did little to curtail Barking's chase and several missed run out chances proved costly as Barking ran home winners by 7 wickets with 9 balls to spare.
Overall Brook gave a good showing in two facets of the game but were found wanting in the third and will find that games can hinge on doing the basics right.
