Goresbrook u13s failed to deal with a low bouncing Upminster Park pitch on Wednesday and had Tommy Smith's 28 to thank for helping score 79-8 from their 20 overs. The first seven batsmen were all bowled and it was left to ten year old Charlie Trowell to show his teammates how to play yourself in with a resolute defensive display that enabled him to attack the final 6 balls and hit a deserved boundary with a trademark pull.
Upminsters batsmen made short work of the target knocking them off in barely 14 overs with only a catch by Trowell off Harry Ivory to show for their efforts.
