Upminster U13 110 for 6 beat Goresbrook U13 107 for 5 by 3 runs

Goresbrook under 13's took on Upminster under 13's at the May & Baker Sports ground on Sunday 21st July. Lee Jones, Brook's captain, won the toss and put the visitors into bat. Harry (32) and Olly (31) both retired, were Upminster's star batsman as they ended their 20 overs on 110 for 6. Tahmid Khondakar was Goresbrook's outstanding performer with the ball as he returned figures of 13 for 3 from his 4 overs, including a double wicket maiden. The other Goresbrook bowlers to take a wicket were Henry Sleight and Billy Parnell, with Sam Wood getting a run out.

After the break 'Brook's opening batsmen Aditya Kumar and Danny Gillham got the home side off to a great start putting on 74 for the first wicket, before Gillham was bowled for 18. Kumar was joined at the crease by Jaden Simmonds who carried on the good work before he was also bowled for 19 hitting 3 fours. Kumar retired on 30 hitting the boundary on 5 occasions playing some fine cuts and pull shots. Goresbrook needed 13 off the last 2 overs but fell just short finishing on 107 for 5, Upminster finishing winners by a very narrow 3 runs. Manager Keith Maund said after the game "A very good performance by all, the bowling, fielding and batting was the best all round performance of the season so far". "Well done to all the boys, keep up the good work and keep learning".
