Goresbrook 3's lost to Oakfield Parkonians 5's on Saturday having had the visitors at 67-5 in pursuit of Brooks 160-7.
Andy Livett provided the backbone of the innings opening on a grassy green wicket, hitting 90 before being run out off the penultimate ball of the innings. The Marvel was supported by the Colonel Karnail Kalyan with 18 and a fine 22 from 15 year old Arayaman Parida.
Parks reply was soon up against it as Pawan Singh continued his fine and frugal recent form with a quick brace, and when Arayaman grabbed a wicket to leave the visitors on 20-3. A brace for debutant Amit Yadhav put Brook further on top at 67-5 with the run rate approaching a run a ball.
However some loose bowling, and a batsman receiving an umpires call with no recourse to DRS, saw Brooks heads drop and despite a late wicket for the Colonel, Essex over 60's representative Vijay lead the visitors home with 45 not out.
