Extra time as Ilford halt Brook

Goresbrook 3's lost to Ilford 4's at the annexe on Oak Apple day.
Brook once again bowled out the opposition in fewer than the allotted overs but a mind numbing 37 wides ( out of a total of 60 extras) were given up, belying the generally lenient outlook of division 17 umpires, that helped swell Ilfords total to 213 all out.
Pawan Singh served up his accustomed frugal fare getting 1-8 from six overs and there were 3 wickets for Siraj Zafar, 1 for Bobby Granger, 3 for Mafi Choudhury and 2 for Karnail Kalyan plus catches from Leonard Thoufick , Lovelin Mostra and Ricci Parnell.
Brooks reply got off to a disastarous start as they slumped to 20-5 and then 47-8 with 6 ducks dominating the scorecard. However 20 year old Leonard Thoufick (68) and 16 year old SIraj Zafar (44*) turned the game on its' head with a new club record 9th wicket partnership of 116 surpassing the 105* set by Ricci Parnell and Owen Elsom against Great Baddow 4ths in 2015
Lennie, who hit 12 boundaries including a maximum before he was stumped going for another big shot, was ably supported by Siraj who hit 5 boundaries in his innings.
Brook finally succumbed to the inevitable with 3 overs left unused of their 40, to lose by a margin of 45 runs , significant only perhaps for being less than the 60 extras conceded in the field .
