Brooks 3's visited Emerson Park Academy for their League encounter with Hornchurch 5's .
Other than for a brisk shower just before the game the weather was good and although the pitch looked good, the outfield was long and undulating.
Andre Thoufick and Owen Elsom both struck early which exposed Hornchurch's middle order to Brook's young magician Phil Thoufick. Thoufick bamboozled young and old alike and finished with 3-25 from his 8 overs. Danny Gillham removed ex Brook player Simon Walker to a smart caught and bowled but it was Bradley Winsley who cleaned up the tail with 4-24.
A total of 125 all out never looked enough on a drying pitch but Hornchurch battled hard and had Brook in trouble at 28-4. Frankie Boland hit two sixes in his 31 as he led the recovery but it was left to the old guard of Ricci Parnell and Owen Elsom to see Brook home, with 46 balls to spare, to win by 4 wickets and keep their place at the head of the league table prior to next weeks 1st v 2nd clash at Coopersale.
