‘Brook’s 3rds produced another impressive win in their quest for promotion with a handsome 3 wicket victory at William Edwards School on Saturday. Boosted by skipper David Castell’s excellent 85 supported by Max Proctor with 35 Shenfield were able to post a daunting 211 from their allotted 45 overs. Goresbrook captain Billy Parnell caught the eye with 3 for 54 whilst teenager Jack Gibson bagged two scalps at a cost of 28 to keep the Dagenham outfit in the hunt for victory.
After the interval, Mark Bird demonstrated his experience with the bat thrashing 11 fours and a towering maximum in an entertaining 73. Fellow opener Andy Livett supported with 40 in a solid partnership of 104 for the first wicket. After some good work from William Preston (11), Sheper Choudhury (12) and Paul Atkins (19) it was left to 17 year old John Nicholls (jnr) to lead his side home with a splendid unbeaten 26, in the process clinching a three wicket success, completing a memorable treble, with all three Goresbrook sides victorious on Ben Irving Day.
