‘Brook’s 3rd string were on song with the willow on Saturday allowing ‘skipper Billy Parnell to make a challenging declaration at the M & B Annex Ground on Saturday. After early setbacks, Daniel Parnell made his way to the crease and proceeded to fashion a personal best 76. Parnell’s superb knock included 12 fours and a towering six and he received support from Jack Gibson who made 14. ‘Wood’s Rob Pritchard and Luke Coleman enjoyed some success with the ball bagging two wickets apiece but the late fireworks were to be provided by two of Goresbrook’s lower order, late in the innings. 16 year old, Liam Elsom, signalled his return to the side with an entertaining 39 whilst Sheper ‘Mafi’ Choudhury struck a dozen boundaries in a swashbuckling personal best 54 as the Dagenham side piled up the runs to finish on a mammoth 231 for 9.
After the interval, Frankie Paisley (41) and Mark Townsend (40) gave the visitors the ideal start. Rob Allam (27 not) added further useful runs as ‘Brook’s attack toiled in the heat. Grace Wood fired a two wicket salvo to give the home side a fillip but visiting skipper Joseph Paisley dug in with a battling unbeaten 28 to steer his side through to a comfortable draw.
Goresbrook 3rd 231 for 9 declared in 38 overs (9 pts) drew with Brentwood 5th 179 for 4 in 49 overs (7 pts)
