Goresbrook 3's travelled to the Parmiters Sports ground, beside the old Walthamstow dog track, for this Division 17 match with Walthamstow 5ths. Brook were asked to bat and despite several starts the majority of batsmen succumbed to the vagaries of the pitch. Jack Gibson impressed with a club best 39 including getting off the mark with a 6, but Brook collapsed from 98-4 to 125-9 and it was only intelligent batting from Paul Atkins with a superb 31 in a 10th wicket partnership of 48 with Ansuman Parida who supported ably with 4*. Atkins antics got Brook into the 44th over and the score up to a commendable and defendable 173.
Owen Elsom got a wicket with the 2nd ball of the innings which gave Brook the ideal start but it was Mafi Chaudhury who impressed, following up his five for the previous week with 4-48 which put Brook firmly on top. The ball was then tossed to debutants Liam Elsom and Fahad Zafar who took Brook to victory with 3-22 and 2-15 respectively. Only one chance was dropped as Brook gave a good performance in the field with Ricci Parnells 3 catches behind the sticks the stand out performance but the extra runs added by Brooks tenth wicket were the ideal cushion for the margin of victory.
Next week the 3's are at home to Ilford 5ths.
