Plenty of positives to draw upon

Brook amassed 266-6 from 40 overs after a concerted assault on the visiting attack from Openers Andy Livett and Mark Bird, from number 3 Ricci Parnell and from number 8 Abdullah Ahmed. The Marvel and the Hound put on 126 for the first wicket with both club stalwarts hitting half centuries, for Marv a third successive 50 . Ricci Parnell scored solidly but after a short flurry of wickets it was Abdullah Ahmed, the 18 year old Barking College student, who smashed three 4's and seven 6's in his 61, his half century coming from just 14 balls which enabled the declaration on 266-6 in 40 overs giving Brook 45 overs to try and grab the nine wickets required for the win.
However Brook struggled to make inroads into the Brentwood batters and perhaps only an early spilt chance at a caught and bowled making a potential difference to the final outcome. Siraj Zafar broke the opening partnership. Brentwood hit boundaries of any loose deliveries but were otherwise quite content to absorb the overs. Skipper Owen Elsom rung the bowling changes however it was only Mafi Chaudhury who really troubled the batters with a fantastic 5-30 which gave Brook a fleeting glimpse of a chance of victory however the visiting batters safely negotiated a fiery second spell from Ahmed with the game finishing as a draw.
10 points for Brook helped maintain 3rd place in the division but Chingford now need to drop plenty of points for Brook to stand any chance of catching them.
