Goresbrook enjoyed the better of the early exchanges as Billy Parnell’s accurate spell of 2 for 46 from 14 overs held the hosts in check. Wanstead’s middle order stepped up to the plate courtesy of splendid knocks from Yuvraj Patel (40) and a polished unbeaten 76 from Ritesh Patel which contributed to a challenging target of 263 when the declaration came.
After the interval, ‘Brook skipper Andy Livett called on all his experience in compiling a solid half century to lay the foundation of the visitors reply. Parnell (22) and Leonard Thoufick (16) ensured the scoreboard continued to tick over before teenager Abdullah Ahmed (35) and veteran Paul Atkins with an unbeaten 23 provided some late excitement as the contest drifted to an entertaining draw with each side securing a share of the spoils.
